Hi guys so the event was on yesterday and it was a really good day

had teh stinger showing on all teh screens, i even managed to put together a passive 3d tv version for the guys at steroegraphixs .

Ok so i havnt been keeping up todate , fortunately theys who were going to help me out a little have managed to get in a handy little job them selves. So ive had to work a little harder to get everything together.

Im just finishing all teh simulations this evening hopefully.

And have about 50% of everything else all rendered been a bit of a learning curve but the renders seem to be coming out ok. The image above is a still from the intro logo.

A bit of a test here, Ive spent teh last couple of days teaching myself some XSI Ice simulation stuff im still very newbie.

Since this ive rotated the particle projectors closer the centre of the screen an scaled them down by 25% so they fit in cleaner and allowing a better composition.

Been a bit of a delay since my last post combination of being a bit sick and lack of time.

So this was an updated i uploaded on friday night to the previous one just notice a few more pops and stuff afte ive doen this which have been corrected since.

Ok so

heres the 90% finished block of the piece, theres still some pops , snaps in there ill leave them till the end iron them out.

all the shapes extruding and moving ...etc will be swapped out with final models and particle simulation. i'll then brake each section up to craete seprate scenes in which multiple people can work from ....etc

Ok so monday and tuesday were spent putting together soem tests refining the idea ...etc on top of meetings and the usual stuff.

So here are some concepts I put together over those days, it took a full day for them to upload to vimeo there all quite small so who knows why.

Second Ideas

Ok so on sunday i needed to start making a move on something more solid

So below is my first ideas for some visuals pardan the poor quality there just scribbles

Building on this i felt an inside abstract look at the process that makes animex pro ( as a logo ) go pro might be a strong visual idea.

So then i organised teh visuals into a abstract process

Which give the very bare bones of of a story board

Ok so with the previous ideas in mind i felt by themselves they wouldnt be enough.

Using them in particle simulations might be a direction to go and having seen soem fantastic things done in ice resently and have a little experience it seemed an exciting direction.

So intresting partcle stuff was maybe on the agenda, but in what format

I felt it had to represent teh event its self in some way , (an inside look into teh business side of teh animation and games industry)

the inside look idea was what grabbed me

(inside the machine, organisism , process....etc)

the stand outs were

i think its fantastic use of doubling up elements ( more bang for your buck )
also very good refence to teh phycologicial side of things

and along the same vain

gnarls barkley crazy

Simular reasons as the above, nice textures, feel, inky , visually intrancing ... A direction? food for thought

First Ideas

Ok so though ive only got the final go ahead today because of the quick deadline i started looking at stuff a while back,

How could i deliver in the deadline what could i deliver that would feel professionial ...etc ( fitting the clients expectations )

these are some images i put together one evening

Ok so following the logos colour branding ( this being an expectation of the clients the previous year )i Stuck heavily to a single colour element on white.

I felt with teh limited time period that a character piece would be difficult to pull off well, model , rig , texture, animate , render...etc

So i felt something semi abstract would suit, and keeping it simple i went with simplistic shapes .

Also using only a cell shader, occlusion pass and Z-depth for the final composite

I thought that a paper texture would make a strong contrast to this, also adding alittle to teh flatness of the white...etc

Animex 2011 Pro

Hi

All im going to try something new, im to document a project as i go through it .
So as titled. Ive managed to get a small stinger job for this upcoming animex pro event.

The breif is as follows

A HD stinger 30 - 60 seconds Long ( no sound )

with two diffrent endings ( text related )

Some images for promotionial flyers ...etc

with two mile stone meetings

Also there is potential to have a 3d tv at the event so they are intrested in teh option to out put a stereo scopic 3d version .... this is yet to be decided.

Last year I got the job also , but with about 4-5 days before the deliver ontop of another project. So we just managed to squash something through for them as they were stuck .

This year ive got a bit more notice so about Four weeks including yesterday and sunday . Ive a diffrent project in the middle which has a budget for about a weeks work being last week of january so ill have to sort as much as i can before hand.

The Guys in Bloom have said they would liek to help out if they can fit it in. So lets see how it goes ill try to update as much as i can.

I had hoped to do an interesting .gif image see if some nice could be done with that . the top three are the development of the final design No.4 the bottom is one of the other concepts i liked at the first stage of development but a more corporate idea was direction was decided upon.

The project went through about 3 stages of pitch as teh client wasnt happy with our first ideas. So over a weekend we had to come up with some fresh ideas. I Really liek teh top image i wish we had have gone that direction art wise. (something ill explore later )

Ultimately because of the strenghts of our team we went for the image below as the final direction. I painted this useing soem base models and then building ontop.

Ok so I dissapeared for a year.But with some good reasons.

I set up a small studio along with Lars last year. I managed to get the opertunity to work on the animex visual for the festivial in february. So we have been running the company since . we've been going for a year and so far its going well havnt been doing anything to fancy .

So what ill do is up date some of the stuff we've worked on starting with animex and so on.

hay ok this is a funny littl clip we did for a business presentation , really simple kinda stuf f but it was really enjoyable going back to the real fundementals not that im far past them . Great fun though. theres a few others but not quirky. I defianetly think ill do more of these there just so much fun. just trying to figure out some jokes or small narratives i could build on this.

Character concept for an unfinished project i was working on last year .
Id love some day to to make it. but it proved to big a beast to do at such an early stage.

Bit of colour work was more interested in the clouds in this piece just
seemed to have a really nice style after i was finished with them.

Disappointed with the quality of the compression. But got to keep the file size low.

Brief for this was a 30second chase sequence with 2 characters. I made the choice of selecting a large 4 legged beast like character for this one. weights not quite right in this shot, but i think it represents a good effort for my first four legged run.
